The Body Connection Program

FOR PROFESSIONALS

Body Connection and your Practice

So many of our clients have had adverse experiences that have caused them to move away from their feelings, their connection with their body and their felt sense of themselves. This occurs across a spectrum from mildly disconnected to completely dissociated, at different times or as triggered by different situations.

There is a lot said about the importance of connecting a client to their body and feelings but not so much said about exactly how to support our clients in this process ........... UNTIL NOW!

In addition to material to support the therapist to develop an embodied sense of themselves, this program contains 9 weekly tutorials, facilitated by Jean, where you will learn skills and techniques designed to be used in the therapeutic session, to support the client to connect to their body, feelings and felt sense of themselves in this present moment.  This helps to bring them out of the disconnected froth and bubble of their "story".

Bodies are our major resource, and supporting our clients to reconnect with their body and feelings is one of the most important and effective therapeutic interventions.

To be able to do this effectively it is very helpful, dare we say essential, that the therapist be connected to their own felt sense of themselves. Our counter-transference includes everything we are feeling in relation to our client in the session and beyond. We are therefore able to recognise resonance with client's states.

Body connection is supportive with symptoms of overwhelm (believing you 'cannot cope with life'), depression (withdrawal from life), anxiety, relationship difficulties, parenting, making boundaries.

There is lots of reference to mindfullness, being present, being grounded, but much less literature that describes how to achieve these states. This course  addresses this gap with practice, hands on exercises, learnt over my 20+ years as a Somatic Psychotherapist.

This course counts towards 27 hours of category A CPD with PACFA

Deepening, to any extent, our connection with our body and feelings, will nearly always be met with resistance.

As we journey through the program, practitioners will encounter their own resistance and discover tools to counter it and get on with the process of healing.

Once we have learned to deal with our own resistance, we are so much more equiped to support resistant clients.
