Using the family systems model of therapy my focus is on the dynamic between the individuals. The family is viewed as a system where each individual, regardless of age, can affect the functioning of the whole group.

The voice of each person in the system needs to be expressed and heeded.
When everyone, regardless of age or position, takes responsibility for their part in the joyful functioning of the team - games that are being enacted can be exposed and let go of.
Effective family counselling can restore harmonious relationships within the family system.
Learning and applying the principles of active listening across all members of the family can lead to better communication, understanding, appreciation, harmony and respect.
Exploring group dynamics, power struggles, unhealthy alliances, triangulation and withdrawal can help bring understanding and lasting change.

Healthy boundaries can be agreed by all. Consequences must be agreed and adhered to.
Learning to cut the energy before it causes intended havoc can be very supportive.

Family and Group Psychotherapy sessions are held at my practice rooms in Sydney's Northern Beaches (Seaforth).
